Welcome back, teachers & aides!
Attached you will find the updated list of teachers and classrooms. I have also attached the welcome letter from Cardinal Dolan which is addressed to all of you. If you cannot find the letter here on this web site, you can go into www.nyfaithformation.org and find it there.
As of October 6th, I shall be asking each one of you to submit your lesson plans for the month. I shall provide you with the forms necessary to do this each month. This is needed so that substitute teachers can know which lesson they are to teach if you need to be absent for any reason. Don't forget that our first teacher's meeting will be Saturday, Oct. 6th at 11:45 a.m. in Room 207.
On Thursday, Oct. 11th, I shall be offering the VIRTUS PROGRAM for the parents and all teachers and aides who have not yet taken this course. It will be given in Spanish in the school cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. and should finish by 9:00 p.m. You must sign up on line on the Virtus website www.virtus.org beforehand. I expect to post this notification some time during the week.
Any teachers who can offer to drive some of the participants in the Catechetical Forum on Oct. 20th, please let me know how many spaces you will have in your car. The cars should leave the church parking lot no later than 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20th. Remember that there is no class that Saturday so that you can attend the Catechetical Forum.
Thank you for your assistance in all of these matters.
Gratefully,
Sister Margarita Castaneda, cnd
Director of Religious Education
Notes for Sept. 22nd:
Today, some teachers will be missing. I have tried to get substitutes for them. Please try to advise me ahead of time when you cannot be present for your class.
The new volunteers will have an orientation session with me on Wednesday, Sept 26th at 3 p.m. in Room 207 in St. Peter's School. It is very important that they attend this session.
The books have arrived for most of the classes. They will be distributed today to all those students whose parents have paid the fee. If there is a question about this, please send the parent or the student to Noe Soriano in my office (Room 211). He has the information of all those who have paid. I shall be busy with the parents in the auditorium.
Next Saturday, Sept. 29th, I shall try to have a rapid dismissal. This is a form of a fire drill. Teachers are asked to lead the class out of the building and the aide should stay behind to close all windows, turn off lights and close the door. Please do not lock the door. This dismissal will be timed, then the students can return to the classroom to be dismissed as usual. This will only be done if the weather permits. If it is raining, we will not have a rapid dismissal. Please review with your students the best way to evacuate the building.
Teachers' Meeting on Saturday, Oct. 6th. The aides can remain in the classrooms to dismiss the students and the teachers are asked to come to Room 207 for your monthly meeting. Please try not to miss the teachers' meeting.
